Improved Version of Vista Mail Tray

Vista Mail Tray ImprovedWow, it had been months since I had posted on here. So what had I been busy with? And yet I still find the time for a new version of Vista Mail Tray. ; ) Actually I was writing another program when it suddenly occur to me that I should had added a hotkey feature for Vista Mail Tray and so here it is!

What’s new?

  1. Running a second copy of Vista Mail Tray will now unhide and set focus the first copy.
  2. Configurable hotkey to show or hide Windows Mail.
  3. Configurable option to automatically close, not close or ask for the status of Windows Mail on Vista Mail Tray exit.

Vista Mail Tray (32 bit) v0.0.0.11 with source files.
Vista Mail Tray (64 bit) v0.0.0.11 with source files.
(IMPORTANT! Archive is password protected. Read notes below.)

How to use Vista Mail Tray:

  1. Download the correct version (32 or 64 bit) for your system.
  2. NEW! To change configuration, edit Vista Mail Tray.ini using any text editor such as Notepad.
  3. The file doe NOT contain any virus/malware/whatever. But anyway, you can always scan the file at VirusTotal. Judge for yourself if those are real virus or just false alarms. You should always scan downloaded files for viruses.
  4. Extract the file to any folder on your Vista computer. (C:\Program Files\Vista Mail Tray\Vista Mail Tray.exe would be a good choice.)
  5. If you want this utility to run every time Windows starts, create a Vista Mail Tray.exe shortcut in your Startup folder.
  6. To use, left click on the Windows Mail icon in the system tray to start/show or minimize Windows Mail. Right click to view menu.
  7. Have fun!

Thanks aa04. I didn’t know that VirusTotal now reports that many false positives for this program. So for the sake of all interested users, the zip files had been updated and now includes all source files.

For those who had downloaded and understands the AutoIt source files, please do post some feedback for other users.
